Questions to ask yourself

Selling a home is a big decision, and one that requires thorough preparation. It is also an emotional time, and it is very important that you are fully informed and feel totally comfortable with the selling process. Here are some questions you should ask yourself before instigating any action towards selling your home.

  • When will it be most convenient for me to sell my home and when do I want the proceeds?
  • What do I think should be done to my home before it is put on the market?
  • What really appealed to me when I bought the home?
  • What aspects of living here have I enjoyed the most?
  • What do I expect of my agent?
  • How will I choose my agent – the criteria?
  • Which method of sale suits me best?
  • How much do I really believe my home is worth?
  • Do I need to sell my home before I buy another one?

Take my “vendor’s hat” off and put my “purchaser’s hat” on…

  • If I was a “buyer” now, would I buy this home?
  • If I was a “buyer” now, what would I pay for this home?
  • How much do I want to spend on my next home?

Remember that the agent is working totally for you – the vendor. It is his/her responsibility to use all the methods and negotiation skills to get you the highest possible price with the best possible conditions of sale in the shortest possible time!
